Templates to start from
Pick one to open it in the design maker, ready to edit. You can also start from a blank canvas in any of these sizes.
How to make one
- Pick a template. It opens in the design maker, in your browser.
- Change the words and pictures. Double-tap any text to type over it, and double-tap a photo frame to add your own photo.
- Make it yours. With nothing selected, choose a colour palette and a font pairing, and the whole design changes to match. Move, resize or add anything you like.
- Download. Download a PNG, then post it from your phone. On a phone, Share sends it straight to the Instagram app.
Sizes
| Format | Pixels |
|---|---|
| Instagram post | 1080 × 1080 |
| Instagram portrait | 1080 × 1350 |
Tips
- Portrait posts (1080 × 1350) take up more of the feed than square ones. Resize design turns a square post into a portrait one, or into a Story.
- For a carousel, add pages under the design. Download with All pages ticked to get every slide as a numbered picture in one ZIP, in the right order.
- Keep words short and large: most people see your post on a phone, at about a third of its real size.
- Choose a colour palette and font pairing once, then Save to my palettes, so every post you make looks like it belongs to the same account.
Common questions
Will my post look blurry on Instagram?
Posts download at 1080 pixels wide, the size Instagram shows them at, so they stay sharp. Tick High resolution if you also want a bigger copy for other uses.
Can I make a carousel?
Yes. Start from the Tips carousel template or add pages to any design. Colours and fonts are shared across the pages, and the download gives you one picture per slide.
Is it really free?
Yes. There’s no account, no watermark and no limit on downloads. The design maker runs in your browser, so your photos and words aren’t uploaded anywhere.
Can I come back to my design later?
Yes. Designs are kept in this browser and listed under Your designs when you open the design maker. To move one to another device, use Download › Save editable project.
Everything else is in the design maker guide.
